Saab Throttle Body Repairs

Saab Throttle Body ProblemsSaab Throttle Body Problems
In order for a car to run smoothly, it requires a proper mixture of air and fuel, and the amount to air that gets in to the engine is controlled by the air intake system. The throttle body is the component within the air intake system that helps control the amount of air that gets in to the engine, so as you can imagine, if this fails, the engine will not get the right amount of mixture of air and fuel, which can cause a number of problems.

Some of the issues that have been highlighted on repairing a Saab Throttle body include:

  • Loss of Power causing it to go in to Limp Mode
  • Throttle Position Sensors Fault
  • Engine Light On
  • Poor Idle
  • Poor throttle Response
  • Stalling / Cutting Out

  • I have a 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0L. I keep getting the code P0638 Throttle Actuator control range etc.
goes into a limp type mode. Once reset it is back to normal. Other error codes are tripped at times too but this seems to be the predominate one. Cleaned the connection. No better.
Do I need to replace or rebuild the throttle body?

  • I have a 2006 Cadillac bLS that is going into limp mode and giving the code for throttle body actuator. does this mean the entire Throttle body should be replaced? It should be the same as a Saab 9-3. The original equipment is a Magneti Marelli 48CPD4. Thanks for your assistance.
