The CAS3 immobiliser module (transponder box) is found fitted to BMW vehicles and is known for common faults like not allowing the vehicle to start. The CAS3 module can be a very expensive part to replace and will need programming to get it working. A common location for the immobiliser box is behind the pocket on the drivers side.

If you’re reading this page it’s most likely because you suspect a fault with your BMW 5 Series immobiliser module and are probably aware how expensive this part can be to replace. Most workshops will advise to replace the immobiliser module because they are unable to repair it. It’s not possible to replace them with a second hand part because the unit will be locked to the vehicle it came from and unless you’re buying a complete immobiliser kit, you will require a new CAS3 module and the unit must be programmed.

Common faults associated with the CAS3 Immobiliser module include:

  • Immobiliser Fault Codes
  • No Communication with CAS3 Module
