  • Olive oil or baby oil

Rub the towel gently on the afflicted region after dabbing it with olive oil. To smooth out minor scratches, use a circular motion to wipe the area. As the oil absorbs, the region between the scratches will get darker. As the darker region dries, it will return to normal. This method is most effective in the evening when there is no sunlight.

Allow 12 to 18 hours for the steering wheel to dry.  Also, park in the shade so the afflicted part of your wheel is not exposed to sunlight. If necessary, repeat this step until your steering wheel has a level and polished surface.
