Hyundai DPF FAQs

What does UK law say about removing a Hyundai DPF?

That the filter stays on any Hyundai used on public roads. Driving one without it breaches the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations, and the MOT has failed a missing DPF automatically from February 2014. Fines run up to £1,000 for a car and £2,500 for a light goods vehicle, so we remove Hyundai filters for off-road and motorsport vehicles only.

What do DPF fault codes mean on a Hyundai?

Mostly one of three things: soot the exhaust never got hot enough to burn, ash that no regeneration will shift, or a pressure sensor reporting a blockage that is not there. P242F and P2463 describe a restricted or soot-loaded filter, while P2452 and P2453 point at the pressure sensor. Our DPF fault codes guide takes each one in turn.

Why does my Hyundai DPF keep blocking?

Because whatever filled it is still there. Short journeys that end before a regeneration can finish are the usual culprit; engine oil of the wrong specification, a faulty exhaust sensor or an engine fault adding soot can do the same. For a road-going Hyundai, the fix is to find that cause and have the filter professionally cleaned. Our DPF explainer covers how the filter loads and clears.

What should I tell you about my Hyundai’s DPF fault?

The model, engine size and registration, any stored fault codes, the warning lights you are seeing and the kind of driving the car does. Whether it is used on the road or kept off it decides which route is open. Send it all through our repair form and we will come back with what the evidence points to.
