Delphi SP10 CVC / Sanden SD6V12 1443 Air Conditioning Compressor – Vauxhall

The Delphi SP10 CVC and the Sanden SD6V12 1443 air conditioning compressors (aircon pumps) are both interchangeable without any modification being required. These units are found fitted to a variety of Vauxhall (Opel) vehicles from 2000-2010. From factory, most vehicles came fitted with early revisions of these units and were prone to failing. The units have since been superseded and we stock only the latest superseded designs to ensure all common failures are rectified in the design.

Note: Some vehicles may require a modified wiring loom be fitted when fitting the new superseded aircon compressor. We can supply the modified loom with the following GM part number: 93190582.

A faulty aircon pump can be very expensive to replace if you’re looking at purchasing a new unit from a dealer, although will come with a 12 month warranty. One of the most common failing gearboxes we recondition is found fitted to the Fiat Punto. The earlier BMW Mini (mk1) is notorious for it’s long list of common problems and includes the common failing 5-Speed manual gearbox. The BMW Mini Mk1 is fitted with a Midland box across all models including the Mini ONE and Cooper. This is possibly one of the most common gearboxes we see in our workshops.

The most common problem with these gearboxes is bearing failure and more often it’s either the pinion bearing or front bearing on the lay gear – you may notice a distinctive noise as they progress to wear out. If you do notice the problem in it’s early stages, the cost of repair is much cheaper than if you wait for the bearings to completely collapse.

Once the bearings collapse, it could as much as double the repair bill depending on the extent of damage it causes. We’ve seen gear-sets get chewed to bits and gearbox casings cracked – this type of damage is irreparable and new casings and gearsets can be very expensive.

When your manual gearbox develops a fault, you may be advised to replace the gearbox instead of a repair. A main dealer for example would not offer a repair or rebuild service for your gearbox and a new replacement can be very expensive. If you’re looking at replacing your gearbox with a new part, you could be expected to pay upwards of £1200+ plus labour. Replacing the gearbox for a used part is false economy. The second-hand gearbox would come with a limited warranty and if it has a known common fault, then you would be waiting for the second-hand box to fail as well just the same. The second-hand gearbox may have been removed from a high-mileage or front-accident vehicle and could fail sooner then you’d hope.

A modern semi-automatic Peugeot / Citroen will come with SensoDrive technology. Sensodrive is basically an electronically controlled manual gearbox. It will come fitted with an electronic clutch actuator, gearbox actuator and a gearbox ECU.

The Peugeot / Citroen range vehicles with SensoDrive technology often suffer transmission faults and most commonly the problems are within the electronic clutch actuator and / or gearbox actuator. Below we’ve listed some of the common failing symptoms we’ve seen these units suffer with.

Second hand used parts will be a lot cheaper but come with limited warranty (typically 30-90 days) and may require reprogramming.
