The Bosch VP44 Diesel Pump (PSG5) is fitted to a wide range of vehicles and is a very common failing part. Due to the Hybrid technology behind the design of the Bosch VP44 Diesel Pump we have found the unit will fail in very specific ways which will make the vehicle cut out and not start.

On testing these units we have found that the fault is within the Electronic Diesel Control Unit (EDC) and not the mechanical part of the diesel pump. Mercedes Sprinter ABS Pump Module Repair (Bosch 5.7 ABS)

A common failing part on all Mercedes Sprinter vans from 2000 – 2006 is the Bosch 5.7 ABS Pump & module unit. There are many faults this unit can have but one very common fault is the C1401 fault code.

Fault Code: C1401 – Return Pump Fault

The above fault code is a very common problem with this type of ABS pump and will cause the ABS light to come on. It is an internal fault within the ABS pump and modulator unit and would normally require replacement at a very high cost.

The fault is due to components running at 70% maximum threshold for long periods and eventually become faulty. Replacing it with a like-for-like part will solve your problem short-term but expect the new part to develop the same fault in the future.

Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS Pump Repair Service

Replacement DPF Filters (Diesel Particulate “Particle” Filter)

What is a DPF
A Diesel Particulate Filter, also known as a DPF is a filter designed and integrated into the exhaust system of diesel vehicles to trap and safely remove Diesel Particulate Matter or Soot from the exhaust gasses. The aim of the DPF is to remove on average 80% of harmful toxins and lower the emissions of the diesel engine to meet with Euro standards. Regeneration is the process required to clean the DPF and is automatically carried out via the vehicle’s ECU when the soot level inside the DPF filter reaches up to 45% (some vehicles will regenerate much sooner).

The DPF filter has a lifespan of around 70,000 miles (varying dependant on the vehicle) and once the filter can no longer be regenerated or is damaged, then a replacement filter is required. There is a DPF Removal service available, however due to the recent change in legislation it will now be an MOT failure if you have the DPF removed – so we are offering the DPF Removal as an “Off-Road” service only.

Replacement DPF Filters
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a very expensive part to replace when it blocks up. You can in most cases regenerate the filter to get more life out of it but eventually it will need replacing. There are many copy filters available on the market for most makes & models of vehicle but are of poor quality and 9/10 times will only be applicable to vehicles that are over 4 years old. So if you have a new Mazda 6 2.2D for example, then you won’t be able to find a copy filter anywhere on the market – and a new filter direct from Mazda will cost you around £1600 +Vat.

Our iDrive Remanufacturing Procedure

All units are first tested on our purpose built testing station which allows us to power the unit up and simulate it as if it was still connected to the vehicle. We can then assess the problem and confirm all underlying faults. We then proceed to carrying out the repairs, replacing any necessary major components including the liquid crystal display (LCD). After repairs the unit is re-assembled and tested again to confirm full functionality before returning the unit to you.
