Description

Summary: A failing Seat Ibiza ABS pump can show up in two places: brakes that pull or drag, and a dashboard showing wheel-speed and tyre-pressure warnings. We repair your own 2008–2018 Ibiza Mk4 unit, and it goes back still matched to your car.

Ibiza Mk4 ABS, the essentials

  • Listed for: Seat Ibiza Mk4, 2008–2018
  • Also feeds: the tyre-pressure warning

Brake and dashboard signs on the Ibiza Mk4

  • Uneven braking
  • Binding brakes
  • Brake fluid not reaching the callipers
  • Wheel-speed sensor faults logged
  • Tyre-pressure warnings
  • “No Communication” on a scan tool

Book a diagnosis as soon as the brakes drag or pull. With the module faulted, ABS and ESP are normally switched off while the base brakes work without their help, and the ABS warning fails the MOT.

Why the tyre-pressure light joins in

The Ibiza spots a soft tyre by comparing the wheel speeds the ABS unit reads; there are no sensors inside the tyres. As heat, vibration, moisture, contaminated fluid and age wear the unit, those readings drift, and both systems complain.

So a worn unit can be mistaken for a bad sensor, a broken wire or a sticking calliper. A sensor, wire or connection can light the same lamps, which is why diagnosis comes before the unit is blamed.

Why we repair the Ibiza’s own unit

Buy one second-hand and it arrives set up for another Ibiza, needing coding before it behaves. Ours is the one you sent, so its coding stays as it was.

Your garage, or you, does the spanner work; then it comes to us by post. We confirm it talks to a diagnostic tool and moves fluid properly, carry out circuit-level repair, then put it through both checks a second time.

Ibiza ABS: what owners ask

Why is the tyre warning on when the pressures are right?

On the Ibiza the warning comes from the wheel speeds the ABS unit reports, so a unit sending poor readings can set it off with nothing wrong at the tyres. If the pressures are correct and the brakes or ABS light are also misbehaving, have the ABS system diagnosed.

What does “No Communication” from the ABS module mean?

The scan tool is getting no answer from the ABS module. The module may have failed, or the supply or connection to it may be at fault, so the garage confirms which before the unit comes off. If the module itself has gone quiet, that is a repair we carry out on the bench.
