Description
Alfa Romeo Spider ABS Pump Repair
ABS faults are a familiar complaint on this generation of Alfa Romeo Spider, and they rarely fail cleanly: the warning light appears on one drive, clears after a restart and returns a few days later. The ABS pump and module stops the wheels locking under heavy braking by reading each wheel’s speed and adjusting brake pressure to suit. When it faults, ABS is normally switched off while the ordinary brakes carry on working. Get it checked promptly — a lit ABS light fails the MOT. We repair the unit from your own car and return it with its original coding.
What Typically Goes Wrong
- ABS light on constantly, or on and off between drives
- ABS not intervening under hard braking
- Brake warning light showing alongside the ABS light
- Stored ABS codes, or no communication with the module
- Faults that appear in damp weather, in heat or over rough roads
Could It Be Something Else?
It could. A low brake fluid level, a tired wheel-speed sensor or a corroded connection can all put the ABS light on, so those are worth ruling out first. Then describe the symptoms on the repair form, or contact us, and we will advise whether the module is worth sending in.
