Description
Audi A4 Throttle Body Repair for Idle Faults
Idle that hunts up and down, sits too high after starting, or dips so low the engine shakes and stalls is a common sign of a failing throttle body on the A4. At idle the throttle body is doing its most precise work, letting in just enough air to keep the engine turning smoothly, so small control errors tend to show there first. Stuttering under acceleration and an EPC light often follow. Your garage removes the unit and sends it to us, we repair the A4’s own throttle body, and the garage completes the adaptation when it goes back on. If the car starts stalling at junctions, have it seen promptly.
A4 Idle and Throttle Faults
- Idle speed hunting up and down
- High idle that will not settle after a start
- Idle dropping low, shaking or stalling
- Stuttering when accelerating
- EPC light with throttle fault codes
Idle Problems With Another Cause
Parts swapped on guesswork can leave the fault untouched — one A4 owner fitted a new throttle body, pedal and MAF and still had the problem — so check for vacuum and boost leaks, wiring and connector faults and low battery voltage first. Our explanation of throttle body diagnostic codes shows what a stored code does and does not prove; then describe the A4’s idle on the repair form, or contact us.
