A very common problem that most people are experiencing is complete screen failure which is common across the entire BMW iDrive MFD Multi Function Display Satellite Navigation System range. When they fail, BMW render the entire unit useless and advise that it must be replaced – if it’s replaced under warranty then you’re very lucky but otherwise it seems like a very costly replacement which is where we come in.

Our iDrive Remanufacturing Procedure
All units are first tested on our purpose built testing station which allows us to power the unit up and simulate it as if it was still connected to the vehicle. We can then assess the problem and confirm all underlying faults. We then proceed to carrying out the repairs, replacing any necessary major components including the liquid crystal display (LCD). After repairs the unit is re-assembled and tested again to confirm full functionality before returning the unit to you.

My i-drive keeps asking me to load the CD, which is already in there and won’t eject the CD either. How much would it cost to fix this and is it the sort of repair that can be done while I wait?

A common fault with the CD getting stuck inside and not being recognised, we can repair this fault but would really need to see your unit before giving an accurate quote. I’ve sent you an email with some pricing information. Not sure about a USB port being retrofitted, we don’t do that type of modification here.

I have a fault with my bmw sat nav… It says intermittently to insert CD/DVD which is already inserted. How much to fix this problem. Fault started when battery was replaced but this was more than 2 months ago now.

I have a BMW 520d 2008, e60 with only one CD slot. It’s Sat Nav is stuck in some location. I have tried to put in new address several times but it’s still stuck in that location. May be the GPS connection is not working as its reading maps disc etc fine I can put in post codes without a problem but when I click start navigation the screen show that location and if I click vehicle location it still shows that location. Any guesses what could have gone wrong?
