A modern semi-automatic Peugeot / Citroen will come with SensoDrive technology. Sensodrive is basically an electronically controlled manual gearbox. It will come fitted with an electronic clutch actuator, gearbox actuator and a gearbox ECU.
The Peugeot / Citroen range vehicles with SensoDrive technology often suffer transmission faults and most commonly the problems are within the electronic clutch actuator and / or gearbox actuator. Below we’ve listed some of the common failing symptoms we’ve seen these units suffer with.

A new clutch actuator alone will cost you £480 +Labour and may require coding / calibration. A new gearbox actuator alone will cost you £780 +Labour and may require coding / calibration. New replacement parts from dealers will come with a 12-month warranty. Second hand used parts will be a lot cheaper but come with limited warranty (typically 30-90 days) and may require reprogramming.

Hi I have a C4 Grand picasso with apparent clutch atuator problems, I had no idea this might be repairable! – Citroen main dealer appear to be the only people carrying the replacement part(s) with a price tag of around £700 + fitting. How would your service price and guarantee differ from this? – Would you need the whole car or just the part? (I’m not a mechanic, but can have it removed)

I have a Citroen C3 pluriel, 1.6, semi-auto. Lately, usualy while going from 5th gear to 4th, it sometimes shows the snowflake and gets stuck in 4th gear, until engine stops. Been to the local garage, and they said it was a clutch actuator fault, and they recommend fixing or replacing it.

C2 VTR 1.6 Sensodrive.
You can here the clutch actuator working it come up with the numbers on the dash 1st or R and N but it will not drive. Would this be an internal gearbox fault ?

I have changed the battery but it’s still having the issue.

My c2 sensodrive sometimes doesn’t start (3 bips and — on the dash) and sometime same problem when getting out of the motorway. Would that be the cluth or the gearbox actuator?
How much would test and repair cost + postage to france?

I have recently bought a C3 Pluriel (06 reg) and it stalled just now when approaching a roundabout – snowflake and ” —” on dashboard, it started working again after turning the ignition over a few times.

I have a 2004 Citroen pluriel semi-auto and have been told by the Citroen dealer that it is the gearbox (gear selector) actuator that is causing the problem and needs replacing . Can you please email quotes, time frame and the process to get the actuator to you and repaired? I am in Norfolk and need my car as part of my job so currently stuck!! Help ASAP please.

Hi i have a c3 pluriel sensodrive 2003 .It will not rev up and drive when in gear also it wont select reverse unless the engine is stopped.[you can hear it select].Also when i jack the car up so the front wheels are off the ground it does rev up and drive in forward gears and changes ok but snowflake will flash sometimes but still wont go in reverse unless engine not running.Any ideas please?.I have had gears and clutch reprogrammed and everything seems to work ok when tested.Also it stated when codes read ::gear wont select::

Hi jason, my daughter has a c3 53 plate 1.4 that still always starts and drives but plays up, clonks and has the snowflake and auto warning light that is coming on more often, it always corrects by switching off and restarting.
