Description
156 ABS Module Repair
A speedometer that works one minute and drops to zero the next can be an ABS fault on the Alfa Romeo 156, not a dashboard one. On cars like the 156 that share the wheel-speed signal with the instruments, a failing ABS module can upset the speedo, the traction control and the ABS warning all at once. ABS is then normally switched off while the ordinary brakes keep working; the car should be checked promptly, and it will fail its MOT with the light lit. We repair your own module rather than fitting a used one.
Faults We Commonly See
- Speedometer dropping out or flickering
- Traction control warning lit with the ABS light
- Diagnostic tools unable to communicate with the module
- ABS warnings that come and go
- Brake warning lamp showing alongside the ABS light
Dash or ABS — Which Is It?
A cluster fault, a wheel-speed sensor or damaged wiring can all upset the 156’s speedo, so they are worth ruling out. Our guide to 156 and 166 ABS module problems explains the signs; then describe yours on the repair form or contact us.
Why Choose Sinspeed?
