Alfa Romeo 156 ABS Pump Repair
An ABS pump that keeps running when it should be silent, or a warning light that will not clear, are both faults reported by Alfa Romeo 156 owners. The 156’s ABS unit combines the hydraulic pump with its control module, and together they stop the wheels locking under hard braking. When the module faults, ABS is normally disabled while the standard brakes continue to work; have it checked soon, and note that the light is an MOT fail. We repair the 156’s original unit instead of replacing it.
Typical 156 ABS Problems
- Pump running on when it should be idle
- ABS and handbrake warning lights lit together
- Codes stored against the valve circuits
- ABS light returning shortly after being cleared
Is the Pump Really at Fault?
A worn wheel-speed sensor, a wiring fault or a low fluid level can light the same warning on a 156. Our 156 and 166 ABS problems guide walks through the common fault pattern; if it matches what you are seeing, describe your symptoms on the repair form or contact us.
