Description
Alfa Romeo GTV ABS Pump Repair
For many GTV owners, the ABS light is the last thing standing between the car and an MOT pass, because a lit ABS warning is a fail. The GTV shares a well-documented ABS pump fault with the 156: the ABS warning comes on, the handbrake warning lamp often joins it, and codes are stored against the unit’s valve circuits. The module reads wheel speeds and controls brake pressure to keep the wheels from locking; with it faulty, ABS is normally switched off while the ordinary brakes still work, so have it checked promptly. We repair the GTV’s own unit, so it goes back with its original coding.
Common GTV ABS Failures
- ABS warning light lit at every start
- Handbrake warning lamp showing with it
- Fault codes stored for the unit’s valve circuits
- ABS dropping out intermittently
- Module not responding to diagnostic equipment
Check the Simple Things First
Low brake fluid, a damaged wheel-speed sensor or a poor connection at the ABS plug can all mimic a pump fault on a car of this age. If those are ruled out, put the codes and symptoms on the repair form, or contact us, and we will confirm whether the unit should come in.
Why Choose Sinspeed?
