Description
Alfa Romeo 166 ABS Pump and Module Repair
Among the reasons the Alfa Romeo 166 fails its MOT, ABS faults are a recorded entry — and a lit ABS light is a fail in its own right. On the 166, a failing ABS pump module can also take out the traction control and upset the speedometer, because other systems share the wheel-speed signal it processes. ABS then normally switches off while the conventional brakes carry on working, so have it checked soon. We repair your own module and send it back ready for your garage to refit.
Common Failures
- ABS and traction control lights on together
- Speedometer dropping out or reading erratically
- No communication with the ABS module
- ABS not intervening during hard braking
- Faults that appear and disappear
Could It Be a Sensor Instead?
Sometimes. A wheel-speed sensor, a wiring fault or a low brake fluid level can produce similar warnings. Our Alfa Romeo 156 and 166 ABS guide explains how the fault usually presents; if yours matches, describe it on the repair form or contact us.
