Description
A1 ABS Pump and Module Repair
Brake imbalance — the car pulling, or one brake working harder than the others — and brakes that bind are the faults most associated with a failing ABS pump and module on the A1. The unit controls how much pressure reaches each brake, so a fault inside it can hold pressure on a caliper after the pedal is released, or leave one wheel with too little. Binding or uneven braking should be checked promptly. Where the unit faults electrically, the ABS and ESC warnings light and ABS is normally disabled while ordinary braking remains; the ABS light is an MOT fail. We repair the unit from your A1 and return it for refitting and bleeding.
Common A1 Braking Faults
- Brake imbalance from side to side
- Brakes binding or dragging
- Pressure staying on a caliper after release
- No braking pressure at one wheel
- ABS or ESC warning lights
Could the Brakes Themselves Be the Cause?
A sticking caliper or a brake hose fault can cause binding too, so the braking system should be inspected first. If the brakes check out and the imbalance continues, describe it on the repair form or contact us, and we will advise before your garage removes the unit.
