Description
A3 ABS Unit Repair — Pump and Control Module
Pedal feel that changes when the ABS cuts in, or an ABS pump that keeps whirring after it should have stopped — or never runs at all — can both come from the A3’s ABS unit rather than the brakes themselves. Usually the amber ABS light is on too. The unit pairs a hydraulic pump with the module that controls it, reading wheel speeds and adjusting brake pressure so the wheels keep gripping under hard braking. With a fault present, ABS is normally disabled, and ESP with it where fitted, while the ordinary brakes carry on. Any change in braking feel should be checked promptly, and the ABS light is an MOT fail. We repair your own unit.
A3 ABS Faults We Handle
- Pump heard running longer than it should
- Pump silent when the system calls for it
- Brake pedal feeling different under ABS intervention
- ABS and ESP warnings lit
- Pump-related fault codes stored
Brakes, Sensors or the ABS Unit?
A change in pedal feel can come from the brakes themselves, and a wheel-speed sensor or low fluid can bring on the warning light. Have the brakes checked first; if the ABS symptoms remain, describe them on the repair form or contact us, and we will say whether the unit should come in.
