Description
BMW 1 Series ABS Pump Repair
A rear brake that binds after you press the pedal, sometimes with no warning light and no stored code, is a fault widely reported on the BMW 1 Series ABS pump. The ABS pump and module controls brake pressure at each wheel, so a fault inside it can leave pressure on a caliper that should have released. Binding brakes should be checked promptly. When the unit fails electrically instead, it lights the ABS and stability warnings in the usual way — and an ABS light is an MOT fail. We repair the 1 Series’ own unit and return it with its coding, ready for your garage to refit and bleed.
Common 1 Series ABS Faults
- Rear brakes binding or locking when the pedal is pressed
- A caliper staying on after the brake is released
- Binding with no warning light or fault code stored
- ABS and stability control warnings lit
- Brake fluid not reaching one or more wheels
Sticking Caliper or ABS Pump?
A seized caliper or sticking slider causes binding too, and damaged or corroded ABS reluctor rings and wheel-speed sensors are a known source of 1 Series ABS warnings. If the brakes have been checked and the binding persists, describe it on the repair form or contact us and we will advise.
