What the ABS pump does on the Corsa E

On the Corsa E the ABS pump — often called the hydraulic control unit, or HCU — sits between the master cylinder and the brake calipers. Its job is to modulate brake-fluid pressure to each wheel so the wheels do not lock under heavy braking, using signals from the wheel-speed sensors to decide when to release and reapply pressure. The Bosch control module bolted to the pump reads those sensor signals and drives the pump motor and the internal solenoid valves.
