Audi A3 Teves MK70 ATE ABS ECU Module ABS Pump FaultsThe Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS unit is fitted to to Audi A3’s but unfortunately, it has similar design flaws as the earlier Teves MK60 ATE ABS pump which as many people know, were a complete nightmare. Both the Teves MK70 and the Teves MK60 units have internally built pressure sensors with a low maximum pressure rating and have identical common failures.

Common Teves MK70 ATE ABS Pump Problems
Some of the initial symptoms that the vehicle may experience are listed below:

  • Brake Pressure Sensor (G201)
  • ESP / ASR / TCS / DCS (Traction) Light On
  • ABS Light On
  • No Communication Fault
  • Wheel Speed Sensor Faults

Note: The faults listed above are the most common faults we have found with these units but is not a complete list of possible faults.

By investigating the vehicle diagnostics with an appropriate scan tool, the fault code is recorded relating to the wheel speed sensor. If after replacing the offending sensor, the fault still exists, then the ABS module would then be scrutinised further. Another fault that could occur is the inability to communicate with the ABS system and we are also aware that water ingress can cause / contribute to these failures, however, both can be tested thoroughly with our in house testing facilities.

Our ABS Repair Service
When carrying out the ABS repairs to these ABS pump units we always look for flaws in the original design, such as the common failing internal G201 Brake Pressure Sensor Fault. Not only do we repair the fault, but we modify the unit to ensure that the design fault has been permanently rectified to ensure complete peace of mind that the unit will not fail again in the future. – We give all our customers a Lifetime Warranty.

We have rebuilt thousands of Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS units over the years and now carry exchange units on the shelf for faster turnaround time. Our exchange units are self-calibrating and will not require any programming. We also offer fitting services at very competitive rates.
