Description
A4 Throttle Body Repair for EPC Light Faults
An EPC light on the dash, often with a sudden drop in power, is the warning A4 owners most often link to a failing throttle body. EPC stands for electronic power control, and it flags a problem somewhere in the throttle system: the accelerator pedal, the wiring, or the throttle body that lets air into the engine. Sometimes the light clears after a restart, only to come back. Treat it as a get-home warning and have it looked at promptly. Your garage takes the throttle body off and posts it to us, we repair the A4’s own unit, and after refitting the garage completes the throttle adaptation as a normal fitting step.
EPC and Throttle Faults on the A4
- EPC light lit on the instrument cluster
- Sudden loss of power as the light comes on
- A fault that clears after a restart, then returns
- Engine management light alongside the EPC
- Throttle fault codes held in the engine ECU
EPC On — but Is It the Throttle Body?
Not always. The same light can be set by the accelerator pedal sensor, by boost or vacuum leaks, by a wiring or connector fault in the throttle circuit and by low battery voltage, so have the codes read before anything is removed. Our article on reading throttle body fault codes explains what they point to; then give us the codes and symptoms on the repair form, or contact us.
