M20 / M32 Gearbox Bearing Failure Symptoms

M20 / M32 Manual Gearbox Problems

M20 / M32 manual gearbox
The M20 and M32 Manual 6-speed gearboxes are extremely common failures and are fitted to a variety of vehicles including Vauxhalls, Alfa Romeo’s and Fiats. The most common problem is worn and noisy bearings which cause the gearbox to whine in certain gears. The noisy bearing may be more audible in some gears then others.

A noisy bearing caught early is a much smaller problem than one left to collapse, which can quickly damage the rest of the gearbox.

What Sinspeed repairs, and what it does not

Sinspeed does not rebuild manual gearboxes, so re-bearing an M20 or M32 is work for a gearbox specialist or your garage. What we repair are the electronic units around the drivetrain, including transmission control modules and the clutch and gear actuators used on automated gearboxes. If you are not sure whether a fault is mechanical or electronic, contact us and we will tell you plainly.
