Mazda 6 DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Removal (DPF-OFF) Breakthrough

Mazda 6 DPF Removal (DPF-OFF) Breakthrough!!

Mazda 6 DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Removal (DPF-OFF) BreakthroughMazda 6 DPF Removal
We launched our long awaited Mazda 6 DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Removal (a complete Mazda 6 DPF-OFF) system breakthrough in 2010 and to present (2014) we have removed over 1500 Mazda 6 DPF’s with a 100% success rate.

From 2007-2010 we were turning customers away on a daily basis as there was simply no options for customers with Mazda 6 DPF Problems. It’s a very common problem, not only on Mazda’s but all modern diesel vehicles which are equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter.

For more information on DPF’s (Diesel Particulate Filters), how they work and our services.. check out our in-depth article on Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) Problems & DPF Removal Procedures.

We’ve been successful in the removal of DPF filters for all other vehicles since 2007, however, with the Mazda 6 the problem was that there was no way of accessing the ECU data chip directly through the OBD port and not much luck chip-tuning via a BDM tool on a bench either. The Mazda 6 (both RF7K & RF8G / RF8X) are fitted with a Denso engine ECU unit and is heavily encrypted. The Mazda 6 DPF itself is relatively easy to remove as it sits in the middle section of the exhaust just below the downpipe – but physically removing the Mazda 6 DPF was never the problem, it was always the encryption of the ECU which restricted us and every other tuning company in the world.

In fact, there is to our knowledge, no other company currently in the UK who can offer a complete DPF removal service for the Mazda 6 without trying to “trick” the ECU. There are companies now popping up everywhere offering Mazda 6 DPF Removal services, claiming to “de-activate” the Mazda 6 DPF system but in actual fact all they are really doing is fitting a little box to your vehicle to “trick” the ECU into thinking the DPF is okay and then removing the filter from the exhaust. The problem is, the system is still active and will continue to regenerate – the result is excessive smoke and poor fuel economy.

Due to popular demand, our electronic engineers & highly qualified technicians have been working day & night on a fix for this problem since 2007 and finally in 2010, we came up with a real permanent solution for the Mazda 6 DPF problems.

We can confidently offer a complete Mazda 6 DPF Removal Service whereby we turn off the DPF settings from the ECU, completely de-activating the DPF system and successfully removing the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) from the exhaust system with zero errors – That’s right, your vehicle will NOT fall in to LIMP HOME MODE and you will NOT suffer any error messages or regeneration processes ever again!

That’s not all – we go one step further to offer an exclusive Smoke-Correction service for all our customers to ensure 100% satisfaction guaranteed. We have patented in-house technology that allows us to carry out smoke-correction services to ensure that after having your Mazda 6 DPF Removed by Sinspeed, your vehicle will not smoke – Guaranteed!

We launched the release of this service in October 2010 and since then, we have successfully carried out Mazda 6 DPF removals on 23 cars in just one month with no problems at all and in total now over 1500 Mazda 6 DPF Removals with a 100% success rate.

Benefits of our Mazda 6 DPF Removal Service

  • Increased Performance
  • Sharper Throttle Response
  • Better Fuel Economy
  • No More DPF Faults
  • No More Regenerations
  • Lifetime Warranty
  • Guaranteed MOT Pass

Removing your Mazda 6 DPF will not cause you to fail an MOT, we can guarantee this with our Smoke-Correction service. Removing your Mazda 6 DPF will not bring up any error messages and the car will not go into LIMP mode. Also, you will never experience any Regeneration messages where the ECU normally attempts to clean the DPF – this is because the DPF is no longer existing.

Finally, you will experience an overall increase in performance, smoothing out any flat spots and safeguard the life of both your engine & turbocharger.

A new Mazda 6 DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) will range from £1500.00 – £2500.00 (+Labour & +VAT). We can remove the entire Mazda 6 DPF  + program the ECU to de-activate the Mazda 6 DPF system for a fraction of this cost and you’ll never have to worry about it ever again. All our work is warranted for the life of the vehicle (Lifetime warranty) and every Mazda 6 DPF Removal we carry out will receive our Smoke-Correction service at no additional cost.

Help With DPF Problems For Audi A5

Audi A5 3.0TDi Quattro 2008 DPF Removal Session

Common Audi DPF Problem HelpWe recently had a new 2008 Audi A5 3.0TDI Quattro come into us for a DPF Removal Session. Now keeping in mind this vehicle is still well within it’s manufacturers warranty period but some manufacturers deny a DPF problem being covered under warranty. Either way, our customer did not want a replacement/repaired DPF, they simply wanted it removed as it was a complete nightmare for them.

They drive up & down the M1 from Lancashire to London on a weekly basis yet they were having problems with the DPF after having the vehicle for just over 18months. Before coming to us, they did try a regeneration session three times.

In fact, the DPF finally failed on the M1 entering London – that’s after a good 3+ hours on the motorway. It’s been said that these DPF vehicles are not suited for city driving but it’s becoming more & more apparent that they just aren’t suited for any style of driving.

Help With DPF Problems For Audi A5The customer came to us after reading on the internet that we specialise in the removal of the DPF system, allowing a better free flowing exhaust, more miles per gallon (better fuel economy) and more power giving an overall increase in performance.

Will DPF Removal Cause Me To Fail An MOT?
From February 2014, the law is changing to include the visual inspection of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) during your MOT inspection. Although our DPF Removals are very discreet and our smoke-correction ensures the vehicle won’t smoke come MOT time, we are offering our DPF Removal sessions as an “Off-Road Use Only” service.

Are Xenon HID Conversion Kits Road Legal?

Sinspeed Anti-Glare Xenon HID Bulbs

If you’re unsure about your vehicle and whether or not it would be legal for you to have a HID Conversion Kit Fitted, please call us on 0203 815 9441 and we’ll go through it with you and give our honest opinion.

A frequently asked question “Are Xenon HID Conversion Kits Road Legal?” and to be completely honest there is no short & simple answer at this present moment in time because currently, we rely on the information given to us by DFT (Department For Transport) and they give only their opinion:

“In the Department’s view it is not legal to sell or use after market HID lighting kits, for converting conventional Halogen headlamps to HID Xenon.”
Taken from source – click here for full article.

This is primarily their “view” on the subject and not necessarily a law in itself. We’ve seen debates across 100’s of forums including the UKPOLICEONLINE forum where officers of all ranks were giving mixed opinions on the topic. We’ve put together this article to outline the main reasons why HID conversion kits are considered illegal for road use but also, there are standards which could easily be met to have your HID conversion kit deemed as road legal and we’ve detailed it all for you below.

Why are HID Conversion Kits considered Illegal For Road Use?

Patterned HeadlightMany older vehicles have headlamps which are designed specifically for HALOGEN bulbs only. These headlamps have a patterned glass and work to very precise tolerances. Changing the bulbs to Xenon HID will cause a lot of Glare as the light appears scattered due to the patterned glass reflecting the light wrongly. Glare on the road is dangerous as it will dazzle on coming drivers and could be the cause to serious incidences.

Improper alignment is another reason why HID Conversion Kits are a problem. After fitting a HID kit to your vehicle, you may disturb the alignment of your headlights. We always advise that you get the headlight alignment checked to ensure that they are not too high else they will be dazzling on coming drivers on the roads. You can check this against a wall on a level ground.

What Are the Exceptions & How Can I Make My HID Kit Road Legal?

To the best of our knowledge, if you’ve got headlamps with clear lenses i.e. no pattern on the front glass/plastic, then this will help to greatly reduce glare. Now there are two types of headlamps, reflector and projector. The reflector headlamp has a foil-type mirror finish on the inside which the conventional Halogen bulb uses to excel the light outwards. The Xenon HID light will bounce around inside the headlight on this mirror finish and up to 30% of the light will end up being excelled out of the headlamp in the wrong direction (possibly towards oncoming drivers causing glare/dazzling them). The other type is the Projector lens which will help focus the light to where you want it to go, this will eliminate any glare and is the appropriate setup for HID kits.

Xenon HID Glare

If you’ve got a reflector type headlamp, then we strongly recommend ugprading any HID conversion kit to the Anti-Glare bulbs. This will ensure that there is minimal glare and not only look better on the car, but will also help to avoid dazzling other drivers on the road.

If you’ve got the projector type headlamp, then either the anti-glare or standard HID conversion kit will do the job fine as the projector lens will focus the light forward to where you want it to go.

Now that’s the main points out of the way, there are just two other things that are a requirement to deem any HID kit road legal:

  • Auto-Levelling Headlights / Auto-Levelling Suspension
Most cars after 2000 came with either auto-levelling headlights or auto-levelling suspension. You only need one or the other to be applicable.
  • Headlight Washer Jets
Headlight washer jets are fitted to many cars in the bumper, if you haven’t got them already you can have them fitted at a reasonable price.

Projector Lens HeadlampIf you meet those two above requirements, have clear headlamps (not patterned) and have the appropriate bulb types i.e. anti-glare for reflector headlamps or normal HID bulbs for projector lamps then we believe you have met the requirements to have your HID Conversion Kit deemed applicable for road use i.e. ROAD LEGAL!

However, you must ensure that the HID conversion kit you purchase is also made to the highest quality standard. Ensure it is fully E-Marked & ISO-9001:2000 Approved. All SINSPEED HID Conversion Kits meet & exceed the required standards.

Why Does Sinspeed Sell HID Kits As “For Off Road Purposes Only?”

Well as you can see above, there is much confusion for many people as to what is road legal and what isn’t. By law we can’t sell a HID Kit as road legal (and all those other companies out there stating their kits are road legal, it’s a lie & they’re breaking the law). Therefore, we have to mark all HID Conversion Kits as “Sold For Off-Road & Show Purposes Only” because people buying these HID Kits to fit into their cars with patterned glass headlamps will not be meeting the DFT requirements.

If you’re unsure about your vehicle and whether or not it would be legal for you to have a HID Conversion Kit Fitted, please call us on 0203 815 9441 and we’ll go through it with you and give our honest opinion.

ECU Remap In London

ECU remapping is a great way to release more potential from your vehicle. We do this by writing to the ECU’s Eprom Chip with custom tuned data to alter the fuel/air ratios, ignition timing and much more. Up until recent years, the only way to achieve this was by a technique called Chip-Tuning whereby we’d have to take out the existing Eprom chip or add a writeable chip to the PCB, one which could be read and written to by tuning software. Chip-Tuning is not as easy and can be very costly and there are a lot of risk factors involved when Chip-Tuning.

All cars from 2000 to 2010 can be ECU Remapped in the more efficient manor, making it a less expensive and a more viable and great way for our customers gain that extra power & fuel economy that they seek.

Cheap ECU Remapping In London

What Kind Of Gains Could I Expect From ECU Remapping?

Gains will always vary from vehicle to vehicle. Two identical vehicles could have different power gains (dependant on the health state of the engine and other mechanical components). Having other modifications such as an upgraded air filter, air induction system or a free flowing upgraded exhaust system can also greatly add value the results of an ECU remap. Below we’ve put together a rough guide line to go by, based on your vehicles factory BHP rating.

Petrol Non-Turbo     10-15% more bhp       15-20% more torque
Petrol Turbo               15-30% more bhp       20-40% more torque
Diesel Non-Turbo     20-30% more bhp      15-30% more torque
Diesel Turbo               30-50% more bhp       30-75% more torque

From the chart above you can see the gains are very desirable & all completely safe.

Audi TT Quattro ABS Controller Module Pump Repairs

Audi TT Quattro ABS Pumps & Modules Repaired

Audi TT Quattro ABS Controller Module Pump Repairs
The Audi TT is fitted with (most commonly) a BOSCH ABS pump & controller, also known as ECU or Module. We’ve found that the most common faults with these is no communication and fault codes such as P1649 which relates to data bus / data link communication errrors from the ABS control module. So far on these units we’ve repaired the following faults:

  • No Communication
  • Data Bus / Data Link Errors (P1649)
  • ABS Light On Dash
  • Juddering When Braking

The last few we’ve seen had the common P1649 fault which is also a fault code shared with VW’s and refers to the same problem (Implausible Signal From ABS Control Module). Audi’s & VW’s are very well known now for their weak ABS pumps & control modules so it’s not uncommon if you’ve got an Audi and your ABS light is on, get it checked out by an auto-electrician and if it does turn out to be a faulty ABS unit then call us with the part numbers. We could possibly have one sitting on the shelf ready to exchange or repair your own unit. All our products & services are fully backed by our 1Yrs warranty.

When your ABS unit fails or you can see the ABS light lit up on your dash board, you should take caution when driving because this means the ABS pump will not pump the brakes. In some cases it will not effect normal driving, but we have seen on many new vehicles with ABS & Traction Control in one that the vehicle becomes somewhat unstable when the module is not working. Also, you must remember that if the ABS pump is not pumping, then the brakes efficiency will be greatly effected under heavy braking. It is advised that you should only drive the vehicle if you really have to when the ABS light or Traction light is on to be absolutely safe. If you’re unsure, call us for more information on 0203 815 9441.

Audi TT Quattro ABS Pump Repairs P1649

We are repairing ABS pumps & ecu’s on a daily basis so if you think yours has failed, or your not sure then give us a call with your part numbers and we’ll tell you how much it will cost and the turn around time. As a general guideline we aim to repair all units within 48-72 hours, however, this may vary and we will always notify you of any changes.

If you do decide to send your unit in to us, we do ask that you keep the module attached to the pump and send both parts into us so that we can do a complete test on both the pump & module at the same time. There is no extra charge for this service.

Audi VW Volkswagen Passat ABS ECU

Audi & Volkswagen (VW) Bosch 5.3 ABS Pump & Controller ECU Common Faults & Repairs

Contact Us

Audi VW Volkswagen Passat ABS ECU

A very common fault on practically all VW’s & Audi’s is the ABS pump and controller module failing. We repair all types of ABS pumps & controller modules but this blog post in particular is about the very common Bosch 5.3 unit which is seen commonly failing on the following vehicles:

  • 1996 – 2001 Audi A4, A6, S4
  • 1996 – 2001 VW Passat

When it fails, the ABS light will appear on the dash and the most common faults with these units is no communication and wheel speed sensor faults. If that’s the problems you’re having then no doubt we can repair it for you, saving you £££’s on what you’d be paying if you had bought a brand new unit & because we’re repairing your own unit, you don’t have to pay to get it recoded or programmed either.. it’s all plug & play when you get it back and fully covered by our 1Yrs warranty.

Even if the fault you’re getting on your unit is not as described by us, give us a call anyway.. we try to keep these articles as accurate as possible at the time of publishing but to reduce confusion we only list the most common failures. Other faults are also:

  • ABS Light On
  • No Communication
  • Wheel Speed Sensor Faults
  • Juddering When Braking

audi a4 a6 s4 vw passat abs ecu repairsWhatever the faults, give us a call today on 0203 815 9441 and let us quote you happy, we even carry many of the most common ABS units in stock ready to be dispatched same day.

All BOSCH ABS units start with either 0265 or 0273. If it’s an ATE ABS unit then the part numbers will start with 10 and OEM part numbers do vary. Whichever unit you’ve got, we always suggest contacting us with the full part numbers first to get an accurate quote for the cost of repairs or to find out if we’ve got a replacement unit in stock.

We have replacement SD Cards for all FORD Satellite Navigation Units

Replacement SD Cards for the Ford Satellite Navigation Systems

We have replacement SD Cards for all FORD Satellite Navigation Units

Update: We currently do not have any stock of these SD Cards. Like us on our Facebook page to find out when they come back in stock.

The Ford range satellite navigation systems with built-in DVD / CD-Player is a great addition to the vehicle with Bluetooth for hands-free calling as well. The satellite is pretty good if you’ve got one that does the postcode finder as well of course, otherwise, in my opinion, we’re better off with a simple £100 TomTom.

Anyway, one thing we’re getting calls for on these Fords is the SD Card that is read by the Sat-Nav units. The navigation roadmaps and data are all stored on a removable SD card. I guess they made it removable so you could connect it up to your pc/laptop and update it from time to time with the latest updates… it’s a good idea but it means that there’s always a possibility you’ll misplace, damage or just completely lose your SD card and if you do, well then buying a replacement from Ford is Not cheap at all.

I don’t see why they couldn’t have just wired in an onboard USB port so that you could hook up a laptop directly to the sat-nav system and update it that way, it would save us a lot of money because the possibility of losing your original SD card would be eliminated.

For those of you that have lost your SD card, we do now carry replacements for you in stock readily available. Give us a call, you’ll be pleasantly surprised that we can replace your SD card at a fraction of the cost. It’s always a good idea to keep a backup of your SD card in future.

A common fault for the Ford Satellite Navigation units is that the screens fail, rendering the unit useless. Fortunately enough we do carry out repairs on these so if you or somebody you know has this issue, then you can check out our blog on Ford Sat-Nav Systems Screen Failures.

Vauxhall Corsa and Rover MGF Electronic Power Steering (EPS) Repairs

All new Vauxhall Corsa’s & Rover MGF’s are designed with EPS Systems installed (Electronic Power Steering), specifically electric columns with a motor & ECU attached and too often these units are failing in more than one way. Sometimes there is intermittent loss of power, sometimes complete loss of power but more commonly a feeling of biased steering – as though it’s heavy one way.

If you’ve got a Vauxhall Corsa or a Rover MGF with an electric steering column fitted and suffering from steering which is biased one way or heavy one way.. and you’ve taken it to your local garage or main dealer – then the likeliness is that you’ve been informed the steering column is at fault and needs replacing (a new unit is £500+ with programming) and a second hand unit doesn’t come with half the warranty and not much cheaper either.

Truth is, 99% of the time it doesn’t really need changing, it just  needs recalibrating but that’s not something your local garage can do (or the main dealer surprisingly). In fact, we’re taking on jobs from many local garages and have customers from the retail sector coming to us directly to save £100’s.

When you replace the steering column with a new one, it needs programming from the main dealers and that’s not cheap you’re looking at £500+ for a new column & programming and that doesn’t include labour for fitting either, however, it does come with a full 1 years warranty. A second hand unit isn’t any good at all, you’ll pay upwards of £150+ for the unit plus any labour costs to remove your old unit and fit the replacement.. and if you’re lucky, the most warranty you’ll get from any breakers yard will be 3 months (with condition of course!).

Bring you’re vehicle to us and we’ll rectify the fault in situe. It takes a couple of hours and we’ll recalibrate the electric column and rectify all faults – therefore there is no costs for replacement parts and absolute minimum labour costs. It’s by far the cheapest option.. and just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, we back our service fully by our no-quibble 1years warranty for peace of mind.

We suggest minimal driving whilst your steering is biased / heavy one way because if you drive like that for too long, you can permanently damage it in which case recalibration would be out of the equation and then a replacement part would be the only solution. We do carry replacement columns in stock but of course it’s far more expensive so we always suggest if you’ve acknowledged the fault then get in touch with us today so we can help you save money.

Sinspeed Super Slim HID Conversion Kit

Contact Us

If you’re looking to buy a HID Conversion Kit then head over to our online store!

If you’re unsure about what a HID conversion kit is exactly, you can read all about it here.

We thought we’d blog (or brag?) about the worlds slimmest digital ballast HID conversion kit. Newer cars are becoming more & more compact and the demand is clear, people want kits they can install with ease.

We love being in the spot light, the Sinspeed digital super slim HID Conversion Kit is by far the worlds slimmest conversion kit on the market.

Most conventional kits are quite chunky and some of the newer electronic kits are coming out smaller and thinner but digital is the way to go – because an electronic kit just won’t protect the cars electrical system the way a digital kit can.. avoid power surges and produce a consistently bright light with minimal power usage.

Our digital slim kits have been sold by the 1000’s, worldwide we sell not only to the retail sector but also to trade & many garages / companies are taking on our products to resell to consumers. Why do they choose our kits? Because they’re reliable, safe, quick & easy to install but most importantly because we back our products 100%

We offer a full (no-quibble) 12months warranty on all our kits. If in the unlikely event a kit was to fail, just return it and we’ll replace it right away.

If you’ve had a hid conversion kit in the past, there’s a high chance it was an electronic kit and a very good chance that it didn’t last long. Most people experience having to change the kit every 6-7 months because they just stop working.. sometimes it’s due to water damage but a majority of the time it’s bad manufacturing.

Our kits are designed to last the life time of the vehicle and only after 3-5yrs are you expected to change the bulbs.

Our super slim hid conversion kit will continue to dominate the market place and alongside it we’ve now launched the worlds first & only Dual Canbus kit.

Garrett GT28/R Turbo Charger Common Failures

Here at Sinspeed, we can repair all types of turbo charger units. For an instant quote simply give us a call on 0203 815 9441. Below we’ll give you advice & information to help

protect your turbo charger for the future along with common faults.

The GT28 Garrett turbo charger is a unit fitted to sporty cars and is widely available as an upgrade unit for many cars such as one of my personal favourites, the Nissan Pulsar GTi-R. These turbo chargers can

produce a lot of horse power in their somewhat little shells, however, we’re finding that they are failing on a daily basis and 9/10 times it’s due to their respective owners not really knowing how a turbo charger works or even how to protect it against damage. Is it possible to damage your turbo charger from just casual driving? It certainly is! We’ll explain below.

Turbo chargers spin at over 25,000RPM and rely on oil to keep them well lubricated so that they don’t break down. When the engine is cold, the oil becomes thick and so takes longer to travel around all the mechanical components. When you’re changing the oil in your engine, that same oil is protecting the turbo charger as well as the internals of your engine. If the oil is old, it is weakened and will have less protective properties left. Imagine starting the car in the morning, the oil is cold and thick and so can’t move very quickly.. if you was to drive off in speed, your turbo will spool up (kick-in) and do it’s job but not be very well protected against wear due to lack of oil.

9/10 times turbos that are sent in to us for repair or exchange are found to be oil starved and thus their seals blow out and bearings break up inside. This can lead to fin damage on the turbo splines and can mount up to a lot of money.

When a turbo charger has spooled up and the turbines are spinning in tune with the speed of your engine & acceleration, all is good but when you release the accelerator pedal, that’s

when the pressure begins to almost instantly build up inside the turbo charger housing. This causes the turbo to slow down, stop or even “reverse” it’s spinning motion – This reversal is called “Back-Spin” and I’m sure you can imagine, back spinning a turbo charger can not be healthy.

Back spinning can cause problems such as snapped shafts and cracked housings as well as bearings breaking up inside. To eliminate back spin, we always suggest fitting a BOV (Blow Off Valve) to any turbo vehicles, even if you’re not using it for racing, having a blow-off valve is good for motorways when the turbo kicks-in it will help protect and prolong the

turbochargers life – some vehicles come factory fitted with the blow-off valves.

Back Spinning is also caused when you don’t allow the turbo charger enough time to cool down before switching the vehicle off. If you’ve just gone out on a long run or a motorway sprint, somewhere where the turbo had to kick-in and spooled up for some time, the impellar(s) are spinning extremely fast – you must give the turbo enough time to slow down

gradually and at the same time cool down before you switch your engine off (we suggest between 30-90 seconds is adequate). If you switch your engine off immediately (and lets face it, everyone does) you risk damaging the turbo charger or at least reducing the life expectancy of the turbo charger unit. For all you know, the unit could already be damaged – check to see if it’s leaking oil into the intercooler pipes leading up to the inlet manifold, it’s a common failure across all turbo charged vehicles for this exact reason.

When a turbo charger fails, you can expect to notice any of the following effects:

  • Loss Of Power
  • Leaking Oil Into The Intercooler / Inlet Manifold
  • Whining Noise
  • Blue Smoke (Oil Seals)
  • Black Smoke (Burning Fuel)
  • Excessive Fuel Consumption (Look for black smoke)
  • Excessive Play In Shaft
  • Damaged Shaft / Turbine Blades

We rebuild all turbo chargers using only the highest quality parts to meet & exceed the OE standards. We not only repair your old turbo chargers but we carry them in stock remanufactured and new. If you require a fitting service, we can accommodate this too.
