Alfa Romeo 159 DPF Removal

Alfa Romeo DPF Removal Service

Alfa Romeo DPF Filter RemovalAlfa Romeo DPF Problems + Our Permanent DPF Solution
Many Alfa Romeo’s are equipped with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) which are integrated into the exhaust systems of newer vehicles to trap and remove Diesel Particulate Matter or Soot from diesel exhaust gasses. When the engine burns diesel, the residue is smoke and in the smoke, there are tiny particles of soot and ash which the filter traps. When it is blocked with soot and ash, regeneration is the procedure of cleaning itself. For a regeneration to work you have to drive along a motorway at 40-50mph for around 15-20 miles – how long it takes can depend on how blocked the filter is.

The aim of this process is to remove 80% of diesel particulate soot (emissions), however, over time, this becomes inefficient and problematic as the filter blocks up and cannot clean itself via regeneration. You will then experience power losses as the pressure builds up in the exhaust by the trapped gasses as they try to escape from the next weakest point i.e the turbocharger seals or EGR valve.

Symptoms Of A blocked DPF On My Alfa Romeo
If your Alfa Romeo comes with a DPF system in place, and you live in a city like London for example, it is more likely for your filter to get blocked up quicker, due to the constant stop & starts.

Below is a list of the most common initial symptoms of a Blocked DPF Filter with a table of the most common fault codes:

  • DPF Warning Light On
  • Limp Mode / Loss Of Power
  • Engine Management Light On (EML / MIL)
  • Glow Plug Light Flashing
  • Poor Fuel Consumption
MakeDTC Fault CodeDTC Description
Alfa RomeoP2002- Particle Filter Bank 1: Malfunction
Alfa RomeoP2003- Particulate Trap Efficiency Below Threshold
Alfa RomeoP242F- Diesel Particular Filter Restriction
Alfa RomeoP2452- Particulate Matter Trap Differential Pressure Sensor Circuit
Alfa RomeoP2453- Diesel Particle Filter Differential Pressure Sensor: Implausible Signal
Alfa RomeoP2463- Diesel Particle Filter: Excessive Soot Accumulation

The issues mentioned above would suggest a DPF failure and in some cases, the vehicle can become completely immobile due to excess blockage and build up of exhaust back pressure. If not dealt with when the initial faults start coming up, it can go on to cause further problems such as:

  • Injector Faults
  • EGR Faults
  • Engine Faults
  • Turbocharger Faults
  • Oil Contamination

These faults can go on to cost in the region of £1000+ to repair, which sometimes make it more cost effective to get rid of the vehicle due to the overall cost of repairs, therefore, it is always recommended to deal with the problem as soon as it appears to prevent any further damage to your vehicle.

My Alfa Romeo Has a Blocked DPF – What Are My Options?
If you find that your Alfa Romeo has any of the above faults, you have 2 immediate options:

  • DPF Replacement Filters – Cheap copy filters are known to block up very quickly and genuine replacements are extremely expensive and only come with a 12-month warranty, which does not cover you if the filter blocks up unless you can prove the blockage is due to a defective filter unit.
  • Sinspeed Complete DPF Removal Session – We offer a completely bespoke 4 Stage DPF Removal Service which involves the physical removal of the filter from the exhaust system, whilst also deactivating the complete DPF system from the vehicle ECU. The Regeneration processes are also canceled out and we carry a full smoke-correction service which is bespoke to Sinspeed, to provide you with the most extensive and complete service nationwide. Not only this, all Sinspeed DPF Removal Sessions come with Lifetime warranty for your complete peace of mind!

What Are The Benefits Of A Sinspeed DPF Removal Session?
Once the DPF filter has been completely removed professionally by Sinspeed, an immediate increase in power and performance are just some of the improvements you will experience straight away, as well as sharper throttle response!

Below you will find a list of the key benefits that you can expect from a Sinspeed DPF Removal Session:

Ford Fiesta Actuator Faults

Ford Fiesta 1.4 Clutch Actuator + Gear Actuator Repairs

Ford Fiesta Actuator FaultsHave you found that your Ford Fiesta 1.4 keeps getting stuck in gear when driving? Or does the gear fail to display on your dash? If this sounds familiar, this could be due to a failed Gear + Clutch Actuator.

The Ford Fiesta 1.4 is fitted with an automated manual gearbox which allows the user to interchange between either manual or automatic at the flick of a button, which is not normally the case with any other 5 or 6 speed automatics. As the gearbox operates using sensors and ECU’s, the clutch pedal is not required.

There are three main components that are used within this type of gearbox which includes the clutch actuator assembly, a gear shift actuator assembly and a gearbox ECU. Each actuator is then equipped with position sensors that allow signals to be sent back to the gearbox ECU informing it of what gear the vehicle is in as well as the position of the clutch. The gearbox ECU then uses this information along with the vehicle’s speed and other parameters to calculate which gear is required, when the next gear should change and when to engage / dis-engage the clutch.

Ford Fiesta Common Clutch & Gear Actuator Problems
The most common signs associated with a faulty clutch or gear actuator on a Ford Fiesta 1.4 are listed below:

  • Slips Out of Gears
  • Gets Stuck In a Gear
  • Fails to Select Gears
  • P0810, P1607, P1735, P1732, P1600 & P1608 Fault Codes
  • Gear Display Light Fails

The list above is just some of the common issues that have been diagnosed in our workshop and is not an extensive list.

If you find any of the above faults with your vehicle, it is more than likely that your clutch or gear actuator has failed, if not both. Main dealers will usually recommend that you replace your whole unit, and can cost in the region of £700 + VAT, but the cost will usually increase as each actuator will need re-coding to the vehicle. This will normally only come with a 12-month warranty.

My Ford Fiesta 1.4 Actuator is Faulty – How Can SINSPEED Help me?

Here at Sinspeed, we have the facilities to fully test and repair the Ford Fiesta Gear and Clutch Actuators. We fully bench test the actuators before repairing them, using only genuine OEM parts to ensure that each and every repaired Ford Fiesta Actuator is to the highest standard and meets and exceeds OE expectations. Not only this, but they will not require re-coding when fitting back to your vehicle and will come with a Lifetime Warranty!

If you have a Ford Fiesta 1.4 with a faulty gear or clutch actuator, then give us a call on 0203 815 9441 for a quote.

Audi EGR Valve

Audi EGR Valve Faults & Problems

The EGR valve fitted to most modern Audi’s is known to have many issues. The EGR valve created to allow exhaust gasses to recirculate in the engine. So that they can be re-burnt before being released into the atmosphere, which helps with reducing vehicle emissions. However, eventually, this can lead to carbon build-up in the inlet manifold and engine. As well as the engine valves which can go on to cause many problems. Including a loss of power and a considerable drop in the overall economy of the vehicle.

To rectify the problem of a blocked EGR Valve used to be much easier on older models. However, it has become a lot more complex on newer models due to the more sophisticated systems that are in place. These systems are able to identify when the EGR has been bypassed or blanked off. Causing fault codes, warning lights to appear or even the vehicle to go into “Limp Mode”.

Audi EGR Valve Common Problems

Below you will find a list of the most common issues that are experienced with a blocked or failed EGR valve:

  • EGR Flap Position Sensor Faults
  • Smoke on Acceleration
  • Loss of Power
  • Missfire
  • Fluttering On Acceleration

Your neighbourhood garage will advise you to get the EGR valve replaced if you are experiencing any of the aforementioned issues. Replacing it can work out be very costly, and when doing so, it is also advised to have the valve thoroughly cleaned with every other service to avoid further carbon build-up. Another option would involve just deleting the EGR Valve from the ECU so it is programmed to stay shut at all times. This will ensure that no fault codes or warning lights appear at all, and will stop the vehicle from going into limp mode.

Mercedes Blocked EGR Valve

Mercedes Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve / EGR Delete Service

Mercedes Blocked EGR ValveMercedes EGR Faults + Issues
Do you find that your Mercedes is losing power when driving on motorways? Or have you found that it is occasionally misfiring? If so, this could be an indication of a blocked EGR Valve. An EGR valve was incorporated into the vehicle’s exhaust system to allow gasses to be recirculated a second time into the engine, to reduce the emissions in the exhaust gasses before they exit into the atmosphere. Although this helps reduce vehicle emissions, it eventually also causes a decrease in the power output of the engine due to the carbon build-up in the inlet manifold and engine.

Diesel Mercedes are common for their EGR failures, and while there were much easier to bypass on older models, newer models have been programmed to identify when the EGR has been blanked off / bypassed by bringing up fault codes, warning lights and even causing the vehicle to go into “Limp Mode” to restrict the performance of the vehicle.

Common symptoms of a failing Mercedes EGR Valve
The common indicators of a failing or blocked Mercedes EGR valve are highlighted below:

  • Missfire
  • Loss of Power
  • Smoke on Acceleration
  • Fluttering On Acceleration
  • EGR Flap Position Sensor Faults

If you find any of the above issues with your vehicle, it is more than likely that the EGR valve needs to be either replaced or cleaned. Replacing it can be an expensive option, as when the exhaust gasses are constantly recirculated into the engine, it can still cause the valve to get sticky with carbon build-up. Therefore, if you are looking at replacing your EGR valve as an option, it is recommended that it is cleaned out thoroughly with every other service to ensure that it is maintained.

An alternative option is to have the EGR valve deleted from the engine ECU, by programming it to stay shut at all times. This is done by blanking it off to ensure that it does not recirculate the gasses back into the inlet manifold/engine, hence ensuring that there are no Limp Mode problems as well as any fault codes and warning lights.

Mercedes Blocked EGR Valve IssuesMercedes EGR Delete Service by Sinspeed
Sinspeed offers a completely safe and bespoke EGR Delete service which involves the complete deactivation of the EGR Valve system. We log into your vehicle’s on-board engine management system via the ECU, and from here, we can turn off the EGR valve to ensure that it stays shut at all times. By doing this, the gasses will no longer recirculate into the engine causing any blockages and will eliminate any fault codes or warning lights related to the EGR with no further power loss issues.

You will find a list of the Mercedes we currently offer EGR Delete service for below. If it is not listed, contact us on 0203 815 9441 where we can confirm whether we can offer an EGR Delete for.

Mercedes CLS Electronic Turbo Actuator Repairs

Mercedes Turbo Actuator RepairsMercedes CLS Electronic Turbo Actuator Problems
Are you experiencing a loss of power in your Mercedes CLS? Have you been told you need a new turbocharger and have a repair bill in excess of £1500? One of the most common failures on the Mercedes CLS from 2004 – 2010 is the Electronic Turbo Actuator. The electronic turbo actuator (wastegate) is controlled by the engine ECU and has a rod connecting to the turbo vanes which is designed to regulate the flow of boost pressure from the turbocharger.

Below we’ve put together a shortlist of part numbers for the electronic turbo actuator:

Common Part NumbersCommon Part Numbers
6NW0094206NW009660
712120781751
G277H-00 TP
H-4825086 L2
6NW008412742730
H-20

When the electronic turbo actuator becomes faulty, you may experience loss of power, warning lights appearing on your dash, juddering on acceleration or a combination of faults depending on how the actuator has failed and whether the turbo vanes were open or closed when the actuator failed. Some of the most common symptoms we’ve seen from a failed turbo actuator on the Mercedes CLS include:

  • Loss of power under acceleration
  • Intermittent loss of power under acceleration
  • Smoking on acceleration
  • Fault codes pointing to turbo actuator
  • Fault Code: 2510 – Boost Pressure Control
  • Actuator arm not moving
  • Engine light on
  • Limp mode

Mercedes Turbo Actuator FaultsIf your local dealer has diagnosed a faulty turbo actuator, you will be quoted for a complete new turbo + actuator unit costing over £1500 to replace because the actuator itself is not a part that can be purchased separately. The alternative option would be to have Sinspeed remanufacture your actuator unit for much less and the remanufactured unit would be returned to you with a Lifetime warranty ready to fit.

Citroen EGR Valve Delete Service

Citroen Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve / EGR Delete Service

Citroen EGR Valve Delete ServiceCitroen EGR Valve Faults + Problems
Does your Citroen smoke on acceleration? Or do you find your Citroen loses power whilst driving on the motorway? These are just some of the indications that your EGR Valve may be blocked. The EGR valve was created to allow exhaust gasses to recirculate into the engine, in order for them to be re-burnt before being released into the atmosphere. In essence, this is ideal as it reduces vehicle emissions, however, eventually, it can start causing issues. As mentioned above, due to the build-up of carbon in the inlet manifold and engine, as well as around the engine valves, causes a decrease in the power output of the engine and smoking issues.

EGR valve failures are known to be very common on Diesel Citroen’s. They were much easier to bypass on older models, however, newer models are equipped with more sophisticated systems where the engine ECU’s are programmed to be able to tell when the EGR has been bypassed/blanked off, bringing up fault codes, warning lights and even causing the vehicle to go into ‘Limp Mode’ to restrict the performance.

Common problems of a failing Citroen EGR Valve
If your Citroen is suffering any of the issues listed below, they could be indicating that your EGR valve has either failed or is blocked:

  • Smoke on Acceleration
  • Loss of Power
  • Missfire
  • Fluttering On Acceleration
  • EGR Flap Position Sensor Faults

The obvious option with a failing EGR valve would be to replace it, however, this can work out to be very expensive and may not even completely fix the problem in the long term. As the exhaust gasses are constantly recirculated, it is inevitable that over time, the valve will get sticky due to carbon build up, going on to cause problems. Therefore, if replacing the EGR valve for a new unit, it is recommended that it is removed and cleaned thoroughly with every other service to ensure it is maintained.

The other option would be to delete the EGR valve from the engine ECU by programming it to stay shut at all times, and by blanking it off, it ensures that it does not recirculate exhaust gasses into the inlet / engine. If the EGR is programmed to remain shut at all times, it will stop any fault codes and warning lights appearing, as well as any ‘Limp Mode’ problems.

Citroen Blocked EGR IssuesCitroen EGR Delete Service by Sinspeed
Here at Sinspeed, we offer a completely bespoke and safe EGR Delete service involving the complete deactivation of the EGR Valve system. By logging into the vehicle’s on-board engine management system via the ECU, we are able to switch off the EGR valve to ensure it stays off at all times. This then means that the gasses will no longer recirculate into the engine and therefore, will stop it from clogging up. When done correctly, it will also ensure that no fault codes or warning lights appear, as well as no power loss.

Below we have compiled a list of Citroen’s we currently offer the EGR delete service for. If your vehicle is not listed below, please contact us on 0203 815 9441 to confirm if it is one we can offer an EGR delete for.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0CRD Electronic Turbo Actuator Repairs

Jeep Turbo Actuator FaultsJeep Grand Cherokee Turbo Actuator Problems
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0CRD model manufactured between 2005 – 2011 is fitted with a HELLA electronic turbo actuator (wastegate). The electronic turbo actuator is controlled by the engine ECU and is used to regulate the output boost from the turbocharger by opening/closing the VNT vanes as and when required. When correctly tuned, you can safely increase the boost pressure from the turbocharger whilst simultaneously increasing the economy of the vehicle.

The electronic turbo actuator is an extremely common failing part and the root cause of the failure is most likely due to carbon build up inside the turbo vanes. When carbon builds up inside the vanes they get stuck in whichever position they are – then when the actuator is being told to open the vanes and cannot do so, the gears inside can snap, the motor can burn out and you will end up with a vehicle that is no longer drivable. Some of the most common symptoms of a failed turbo actuator include:

  • Loss of power under acceleration
  • Intermittent loss of power under acceleration
  • Smoking on acceleration
  • Fault codes pointing to turbo actuator
  • Fault Code: 0046 – Control Circuit Performance
  • Fault Code: P0234 – Turbo / Supercharger Overboost
  • Fault Code: P0299 – Turbo / Supercharger Underboost
  • Fault Code: P1033 – Boost Pressure Control Short To B+
  • Actuator arm not moving
  • Engine light on
  • Limp mode

If your vehicle has been diagnosed with a faulty electronic turbo wastegate, your dealer will be quoting you for a very expensive replacement turbocharger which will come with a new electronic turbo actuator. The actuator is not available to buy separately and, therefore, you can expect a bill upwards of £1200 for the new replacement parts which only come with a 12-month warranty.
