Ferrari 360 Bosch 5.3 ABS Pump Repair

Ferrari 360 Bosch 5.3 ABS Pump Control Module RepairsFerrari 360 Bosch 5.3 ABS / ESP Pump Control Module Problems
The Ferrari 360 Bosch 5.3 ABS Pump Controller also controls the traction control (ESP) system and is a very common failing part found fitted to the Ferrari 360. The ABS Pump is also often referred to as many names such as: ABS Pump, ABS ECU, ABS Module, ABS Controller, ESP Pump, ESP ECU, ESP Module and ESP Controller – In instances like this when the ABS / ESP systems are combined, they are all referring to the same one unit.

The Bosch 5.3 ABS Controller has an external power source to the ABS pump motor which is mounted on top of the hydraulic valve block. The ABS unit has since been upgraded on newer vehicles with the Bosch 5.7 and now the Bosch 8.0 ABS pump which has an internal power source to feed power up to the ABS pump motor.

Common Ferrari 360 Bosch 5.3 ABS Pump Faults
Faults with this type of unit can very quite abit as it all depends on how the unit has failed. We’ve been repairing these units for so long now we’ve practically seen every type of fault possible with Bosch ABS controllers and below are just some of the most common faults we’ve seen when the ABS pump fails:

  • ABS Light On
  • Brakes Juddering
  • Traction Light On
  • Handbrake Light On
  • Pressure Sensor Faults
  • Steering Light On
  • Speedo Not Working
  • Wheel Speed Sensor Faults
  • No Communication via OBD

If your ABS unit has failed, some dealers and workshops will advise on a new replacement part which will come with a 12 month warranty but the cost of new parts can be very expensive and will need programming at an additional cost. Second hand used ABS controllers are not recommended because they come with a limited 30-90 day warranty and being such a common failing part there is no real guarantee how long it will last – also the second hand used part will also require reprogramming at an additional cost.

Toyota Multi-Mode Transmission (MMT) Clutch Actuator + Gear Actuator Repairs

Multi-mode transmission, or MMT for short, is a type of sequential manual gearbox. Offered by Toyota and is commonly known to be fitted to the Aygo, Auris, Yaris and Corolla Verso models. The MMT comes with a conventional friction clutch and a mechanical gear selector mechanism which is controlled electronically. Instead of the conventional automatic transmission, which uses hydraulics and a torque converter. As many Toyota owners will be aware, this particular design has had many complaints and common failures with the clutch and gear actuator units.

Common MMT Clutch Actuator + Gear Actuator Repairs

Some of the most common problems associated with the MMT Gearbox Clutch + Gear Actuators are:

  • Slipping out of gear
  • Getting Stuck in Neutral
  • Gearbox Light On Dash
  • Complete Failure

If you find that the clutch or gearbox actuator has failed. Many customers who have asked around regarding this issue will know that going to the main dealer will cost in excess of £700 + VAT and labour. Programming and the new replacement will only come with the standard 12-month warranty. If you opt for a second-hand part, it may work out slightly cheaper. But then it will also require coding/programming which requires dealer-level equipment and this will come at an additional cost with a limited 30 -90 day warranty. Keeping in mind the current issues that occur with these actuators. This could also work out to be more expensive due to the risk of it failing again.

Audi A3 Teves MK70 ATE ABS ECU Module ABS Pump Faults

Audi A3 Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS Pump Repair Service

Audi A3 Teves MK70 ATE ABS ECU Module ABS Pump FaultsThe Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS unit is fitted to to Audi A3’s but unfortunately, it has similar design flaws as the earlier Teves MK60 ATE ABS pump which as many people know, were a complete nightmare. Both the Teves MK70 and the Teves MK60 units have internally built pressure sensors with a low maximum pressure rating and have identical common failures.

Common Teves MK70 ATE ABS Pump Problems
Some of the initial symptoms that the vehicle may experience are listed below:

  • Brake Pressure Sensor (G201)
  • ESP / ASR / TCS / DCS (Traction) Light On
  • ABS Light On
  • No Communication Fault
  • Wheel Speed Sensor Faults

Note: The faults listed above are the most common faults we have found with these units but is not a complete list of possible faults.

By investigating the vehicle diagnostics with an appropriate scan tool, the fault code is recorded relating to the wheel speed sensor. If after replacing the offending sensor, the fault still exists, then the ABS module would then be scrutinised further. Another fault that could occur is the inability to communicate with the ABS system and we are also aware that water ingress can cause / contribute to these failures, however, both can be tested thoroughly with our in house testing facilities.

Our ABS Repair Service
When carrying out the ABS repairs to these ABS pump units we always look for flaws in the original design, such as the common failing internal G201 Brake Pressure Sensor Fault. Not only do we repair the fault, but we modify the unit to ensure that the design fault has been permanently rectified to ensure complete peace of mind that the unit will not fail again in the future. – We give all our customers a Lifetime Warranty.

We have rebuilt thousands of Teves MK70 (ATE) ABS units over the years and now carry exchange units on the shelf for faster turnaround time. Our exchange units are self-calibrating and will not require any programming. We also offer fitting services at very competitive rates.

Jaguar X Type Turbo Actuator Problems

Jaguar X-Type Electronic Turbo Actuator – Repairs and Replacements available!

Jaguar X Type Turbo Actuator FaultJaguar X-Type Electronic Turbo Actuator
An Electronic Turbo Actuator is an additional component that has been implemented to Turbochargers, and it is currently the most accurate type of Turbocharger boost control as it can be controlled by the engines ECU. Because of this, adjustments can be made to improve turbo spool up times as well as increase efficiency resulting in more power and better fuel economy. However the downsides of introducing another electronically controlled component to a highly sophisticated system means that there is still aways a chance that the Electronic Turbo Actuator will fail.

Jaguar X Type Turbo Actuator ProblemsJaguar X-Type Electronic Turbo Actuator – Common Faults
Some of the most common issues that we have found with the Jaguar X-Type Electronic Turbo Actuator is the glow plug light starts flashing, and the engine may go into limp mode. Some of the typical fault codes shown on diagnostic equipment that may indicate a faulty Turbo Actuator include:

P132A
P132B
P139A
P1952
P1953
P2263

These can also appear when the Turbo is faulty, however a further inspection is always encouraged to rule out any problems with the Turbo Actuator. Unfortunately, many vehicle manufacturers have a “No Repair Policy” which means that even if you have a faulty Turbo Actuator, they would charge to replace the complete Turbocharger as the turbo actuator will not be available itself. As you can imagine, this can prove to be very expensive, and can cost easily upwards of £1000.00 + VAT.

My Jaguar X-Type Electronic Turbo Actuator is Faulty – How can Sinspeed Help Me?
Here at Sinspeed, we have the facilities to Fully Test + Repair your Jaguar X-Type Turbo Actuator. Only genuine OEM components will be used to remanufacture the turbo actuator to ensure that it meets and exceeds OE Specifications and is of the highest quality. It will also come with LIFETIME warranty.

We also provide a professional diagnosis and fitting service if required.
