Having intermittent isues with my power steering on my 06 C4, where steering gets really heavy. checked psf reservoir, topped up, new battery on car, been advised there was an intermittent ECU fault which has been cleared, but the steering still having problems.

The steering pump is a common failure on this vehicle but ask your mechanic to disconnect the feed pipe that runs from the steering pump to the steering rack and then start the vehicle to see whether or not the fluid is coming out at high pressure. It is a high-pressure feed pipe so it should squirt out with pressure but if it doesn’t then this would suggest either the feed pipe has a restriction or the pump itself is faulty.

Hello i have the same problem. i am from bulgaria and here we dont have good service. can u advice me how to search the problem. in next week i will try to clean around the pump if i find it 😀 and test the battery. i have other problem when drive a strange sound coming front like vibration and siren sound. can be problem from the steering power pump? The unit can become noisy when it develops a fault but there should not be any particular siren sounds from the unit so you may have another fault on the vehicle as well.
